As part of our Sustainability Strategy, one of our key commitments is to measure ourselves against recognised industry standards.

Our goal is for every UK Valor hotel to achieve Green Key certification – and we’re delighted to share that 32 of our UK hotels have now achieved their Green Key certification!

With more hotels still awaiting their audits, we’re really pleased with the progress we’ve made so far. A huge thank you to all our hotel teams and Green Champions for the hard work, dedication and teamwork that has gone into achieving this.

So, what is Green Key?

Green Key is a globally recognised sustainability certification for hotels, recognising properties that are taking meaningful steps to reduce their environmental impact and support a more sustainable guest experience.

Here are just some of the areas we’re focusing on across our UK hotels:

🛏️ Bedrooms
Conserving water and energy through refillable amenities, alongside optional linen and towel reuse for guests.

🍽️ Restaurants and bars
Prioritising responsibly sourced ingredients and reducing food waste across our restaurants and bars, with Too Good To Go available across many of our hotels.

♻️ Lobby and meeting areas
Introducing reusable solutions in lobby areas and meeting spaces to help reduce single-use plastic waste.

⚡ Renewable energy
Implementing energy-efficient initiatives throughout our hotels, with 100% of purchased electricity sourced from renewable energy.

💚 Local ESG initiatives
Supporting local communities through charity partnerships, fundraising and other ESG activities unique to each hotel.

🗑️ Recycling and waste
Reducing waste and encouraging recycling, including providing recycling bins in guest bedrooms.

🌳 Green spaces and transport
Helping guests discover local green spaces and encouraging the use of public transport and other sustainable ways to explore the local area.
